Immunohistochemical study of Glutathione S-Transferase Isoenzymes in Cutaneous Epithelial Neoplasma

Abstract
Immunohistochemical staining on the isoenzymes of the Glutathione S-transferases ; placental form(GST--r) and basic liver form(GST-a) were observed in the 84cases of tumor and tumor-like
4
lesions of epidermis and adenxae of the skin.
1. Staining reactions of GST--7r in the seborrheic keratosis, solar keratosis, bowenoid papulosis, keratoacanthoma, verruca vulagaris, and nevus sebaceous were moderate to marked in superficial -~.nd middle layer of epidermis and negative in basal cells. GST-a were negative to mild in the same
2. Staining reactions of GST--r :in the Bowen¢¥s disease and squamous cell carcinoma were mild to moderate in dysplastic squamous cell and marked in the differentiated large carcinoma cells but negative in the basal cell carcinoma. GST-a were negative to mild in the same cells.
I Staining reaction of GST-7r in the Dilomatricoma, trichilemmal cyst were moderate in the r-,diferentiated pilomatrix-cells, trichilemmal cells and ghost cells, and negative¢¥ to mild in the ecrine tumors. But in the extramammary Paget¢¥s disease moderate to marked reaction was noted in the ductal and infiltration carcinoma cells but negative in the epidermal infiltrating cells. GST-a were
t
¢¥ negative to mild in the same cells except-Paget¢¥s cells which shows same reaction -as GST-;r. Therefore, immunohistochemical staining pattern of GST-Tr in various skin tumors and tumor-like lesions `suggests that major detoxifying enzyme is acidic GST-z rather than basic GST-a.
